Types of Loft Boards We Install

Loft boards can be classified into three sub-types based on their material:

Chipboard: Generally referred to as P5 chipboard, it is a highly moisture-resistant material and is suitable for moisture and humidity-prone areas. These loft boards are typically green in colour and are an expensive option.

OSB: Formed by compressing wood strands and binding them with an adhesive, OSB (oriented strand board) is a relatively new material for loft boarding. It is a durable and high-end material with an initial cost somewhat higher than chipboard.

Plywood: Plywood is manufactured by compressing multiple thin sheets of veneer and binding them with adhesives. It’s the strongest material on the list and has the highest initial cost as well – the reason why it is rarely used.
